The Ghana forward has never hidden his love for the Serie A giants, with a training opportunity indicating he could be close to a return

Milan have confirmed that Schalke 04 outcast Kevin-Prince Boateng would start training with the Italian side from October 1 to December 31.

The 28-year-old has been left in the cold following an indefinite suspension from the German club in May.

Plagued with persistent injuries, the midfielder had made just 10 Bundesliga starts and contributed a paltry four assists in all competitions last season before being given the boot.

“From October 1 until December 31, @KPBofficial will be training with the team,” Milan announced via their official twitter handle on Wednesday.

Boateng was reported to be close to sealing a move to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon during the summer, but the club announced a breakdown in talks over image rights.

Other reports suggested that the former Tottenham player saw a move to Saudi side Ittihad fall through following medical issues at Bupa Arabia, the club’s official healthcare partner.

Boateng spent three seasons with Milan, from 2010 to 2013, after a brilliant campaign with the Black Stars at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa, as well at Portsmouth in England, which he led to the FA Cup final.

He won the 2010-11 Serie A title as well as the 2011-12 Italian Super Cup, making a total of 74 league appearances and scoring 18 goals during his time at San Siro.
