Joe Ghartey stands no chance in NPP flagbearership race - Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson says the declaration of intent by former Attorney General, Joe Ghartey to contest for the NPP flagbearership slot is just to prepare himself for 2020.

According to Ben Ephson, the Second deputy Speaker of Parliament is likely not to make the cut for the final five contestants to slug it for the flagbearership slot.

Mr. Joe Ghartey, and Mr. Francis Addai Nimoh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong have confirmed their intent to pick nomination forms to contest the presidential primary of the NPP when nominations are formally opened.

The two make it nine the number of people waiting for the greenlight to contest the flagbearer race. Speaking to XYZ News, the managing editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper said considering the age of Mr. Joe Ghartey it is possible he is preparing himself for 2020 adding that he stands no chance of beating the bigwigs in the race.

Meanwhile, the NPP Member of Parliament for Mampong says he will unite the party and ultimately win power for the NPP in 2016.

The Mampong MP in an interview with XYZ NEWS, said he will unite the NPP and ultimately win back power in 2016.

“Based on my personal conviction on the dream that I had and the consultations that I have made and which I continue to make that is why I have developed that intention."

The would-be presidential aspirants of the NPP include two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, twice flag bearer hopeful Air Alan Kwadwo Kyeramaten and former flag-bearer hopefuls, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku and Prof. Kwabena, Frimpong-Boateng.
