Industrial sector gets more electricity

The country’s industrial sector is set to see an improvement in the supply of electricity following a directive to providers to cut down on the load being shed in the enclave.

Effective Tuesday, the 130 megawatts of electricity shed in the industrial sector daily will be reduced to 100 megawatts, a statement issued by the Ministry of Power directed.

It attributed the 30 megawatts reduction in the load being shed in the sector to “an improvement in the electricity supply situation in the country”.

It said the Ministry is closely monitoring developments in the generation, distribution and supply of electricity, and would accordingly inform Ghanaians on any changes.

Ghana has for the past three years been experiencing electricity shortfall but was intensified late last year forcing providers to begin a load shedding regime, which has highly been criticised for its erratic nature.

The situation, however, has improved following various interventions by the government.
