I was out of Comoros game - Gyan

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says he was unable to score in the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros because he was tightly marked.

The 29-year-old missed an opportunity to reach a 50-goal milestone for the Black Stars in the two-legged tie against the lowly-rated side.

Gyan uncharacteristically shot wide a glaring opportunity to score in the second half of the return game against Comoros on Tuesday having been played clean through on goal.

But he was for majority parts of the game tamed with Comoros deploying a tactic of crowding him out whenever he had the ball.

The Shanghai SIPG ace admitted to the defensive superiority of the Comorians as the reason he drew a blank.

They [Comoros] are tactically very good, he said.

They know how to close all the spaces.

Ghana, however, secured a 2-0 victory to progress to the final phase of the qualifier courtesy goals from Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars will be joining 19 other teams who will be drawn against each other in five groups of four for the final phase of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
