Ex-Hearts defender Sam Johnson is amazed at the shocking downward spiral of the club and says he’s feels embarrassed to have played for the Ghanaian giants.

Hearts have been in turmoil for the past six years amid a crisis punctuated by financial dogmatism and bitter power struggle.

The club has remained trophyless for the past seven years with no end in sight to their problems.

Hearts have failed miserably to attract quality players with claims of unpaid salaries and lack of motivation flattening their progress.

Former Ghana defender Sam Johnson, who enjoyed a fabulous career at the club, is shocked at their fast-eroding image of the club.

“It’s a big shame and an embarrassment to call for anyone to associate himself with the club,” he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM

“I can’t simply believe what is happening to the club. Things have dramatically gone wrong and it’s shocking.

“Some of us feel embarrassed to be associated with the club. It’s pathetic and shambolic and something drastic ought to be done to change the situation.”

The former African champions have lost the spark that made them giants on the continent as they continue to play catch-ups.
