How can an unintelligent DCOP Doku gather intelligence? – Alavanyo Chief quizzes

At the back of a recent clash that led to the death of two persons with 5 injuries recorded at Alavanyo, Torgbe Atakora VII the Paramount Chief of the area is unhappy with decision by the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa to shield an investigative report about the incident.

In an exclusive interview with MyNewsGh.com, Torgbe Atakora VII expressed disgust at the action by the former Regional Commander of the Ghana police service, DCOP Francis Doku who alleged a stock pile of 70 AK 47 assault rifles were found in the volatile community.

“I’m not happy the police commander was transferred. He should be made to reveal where the stockpile of weapons are because that allegation will certainly send wrong signal to our neighbors in Nkonya to also stockpile arms”.

He continued, “how can an unintelligent police officer be gathering intelligence he can’t substantiate?

The chief said DCOP Doku made these allegations during the Oti referendum against the people of Alavanyo which he is very unfortunate.

“We won’t be satisfied with the IGP until DCOP Doku is compelled to show where those weapons are or be made to apologise and retract for his comments” he added.

The paramount chief of Alavanyo traditional area Torgbe Atakora VII stated that they will not have any of the excuses from the Volta Regional Minister describing the report as “sensitive”.

“What is more sensitive done than the loss of human lives through police negligence? The relatives of those deceased young men are in pain. The injured ones are battling for their lives and can’t fend for themselves and families anymore. Its better the content is known to all of us rather than attempt to shield perpetrators” he added.

Some young men engaged in the community told our reporter they were still angry. “Hope you can see the cutlass on my motorbike? I take it everywhere I go”.

One alleged the policemen came to the community and violently shot into a gathering of youth killing two in the process.
