Government appointees to dump V8s next year - Otchere Darko

A private legal practitioner and a member of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere Darko has stated that government officials will from next year be compelled to use Toyota Corolla and Camry for official duties.

This implies that the use of V8 vehicles for official purposes will be abandoned by both Ministers and their deputies.

It is believed that the latest move by government is to cut cost and curtail the wanton abuse of sirens by appointees which has called for public outcry to the menace.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere Darko a confidant of the president noted that, the finance minister has ordered Camry and Corolla for the government appointees instead of V8 vehicles.

“I hear so much talk about V8 this month and I am a little confused. What I do know is that the Minister of Finance has stubbornly refused to buy the usual Toyota Land Cruiser V8 or what-have-you for ministers since the change in Govt.

Even the vehicles that were ordered by the previous Govt have had to be audited and stalled and audited with little appetite for them except that the contract may have to be honoured even after some necessary adjustments.

I am also aware that the Finance Minister is, in fact, planning to buy Toyota Camry, Corolla and the like for Ministers and their deputies, etc. from 2018 onwards.

So why all of a sudden all the talk as if there is rather a surge in V8 numbers procured for Govt officials? The irony of social media campaigns, sometimes”
