Give credit to my team - Duncan

Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan

Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan insists he cares less about the level of opposition mounted by FK Jagodina in the 80th anniversary friendly match on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors run riot to thrash the Serbian club 5-0 before their home fans in Kumasi.

Jagodina however arrived in the country with a weakened side and were even forced to use some local players just to make up the numbers for the game.

Critics have since sought to beat down the importance of the flattering result secured by Kotoko due to the poor opposition mounted by the Serbians.

But coach David Duncan feels his team ought to be given the credit for putting away Jagodina in the style they did no matter the quality of their opponents.

“We played a perfect game, all the players are picking at the right time and you can all attest to that. We will keep working hard to prepare for the league,” Duncan said.

“What if I didn’t get the results, what would you have said?

“Let’s give the players the credit. I don’t care about the team, even if we play against a third division club, the only thing needed is the results, and we delivered it.

“Now our focus is on the G6 tournament.”

Kotoko’s next assignment will be in the inaugural GHALCA G6 tournament which kicks off in Sekondi on January 7.
