Ghanaian starlet Emmanuel Appiah has been recognised for his outstanding performance in 2015 after being named in the All-Ohio and All-American Athletic Conference second teams of the year.

The University of Cincinnati promising forward raked in goals and earned the signature for the best assist giver as he and his team-mate Alejandro Garcia were both named in the game.

Appiah (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) had his highest-scoring season at UC, recording five goals and six assists while also earning a spot on the All-American Athletic Conference second team.

His six helpers ranked sixth in the conference while his 16 total points ranked eighth. Appiah played in 65 matches during his Cincinnati career, scoring seven goals and adding 11 assists.

He graduated from UC in December 2015 and is currently pursuing a professional career. He participated in the Columbus Crew SC College Combine last month and will be one of 60 collegiate players in the MLS College Combine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, January 7-12.

Appiah's coach was full of praise for him and his team-mate after their feat.

We are delighted that Alejandro and Emmanuel were named to the All-Ohio team," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "They both had outstanding senior seasons for us and are very deserving of this recognition. The recognition is a fitting way to cap their collegiate careers."

He is one of several Ghanaian starlets playing football at the university level in the USA.
