Ghana Institution of Surveyors successfully holds maiden carols service

The Ghana Institution of Surveyors’ (GhIS) maiden Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols has left an exciting impression on attenders.

Held at the Aviation Social Center in Accra on December 14, 2017, the event treated the audience to a great night of carols thereby putting them straight into the Christmas mood.

The structure of the service, which started quite on time, entailed the usual nine passages of Scripture followed by nine carols.

The lessons started with Surveyor Humphrey Amegadoe and gracefully ended with the GhIS President, Surv. Edwin Addo-Tawiah.

Aside the Ave Maria Choir of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, who led praises and sang popular Christmas carols like ‘While the Shepherds Watched’ and ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, the Ghana Police Band were present to liven the place up with a good blend of musical instruments.

Vicar-General of the Accra Metropolitan Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, Rev. Father Francis Doboli shared a word of exhortation that Christmas is characterised by joy.

He averred that although the festive season signifies the birth of Jesus Christ, it should be a time to reflect on the important things saying it is “a time when we can look back on the year passed and prepare for the coming year.”

The Ghana Police Band rounded off the programme with the well-known Twi Christmas song ‘Afie ako apro. Aba to yen so bio-o” which kept everyone on their feet to the extent of dancing in circles.

Among the notables who graced the occasion were renowned legal practitioner, Ace Ankomah; Appeal Court Judge, Her Ladyship Justice Mabel M. Agyemang; GhIS Vice President, Surv. Mrs M. A. Edumadzie-Acquah.
