GMA to Gamey: 'You are part of our problem'

Austin Gamey -- Labour analyst Austin Gamey -- Labour analyst

The deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Justice Yankson has taken a swipe at Austin Gamey, a labour expert, accusing him of being part of the reason why they’ve still not sealed a deal on their conditions of service with government.

He revealed that the seasoned labour expert had the opportunity to spearhead the move for them over a decade, but he was unable to achieve any good results for the body.

He described Mr. Gamey’s expertise and input in their deliberations over their conditions of service as worthless to their course.

Dr Yankson says if Gamey is looking for an opportunity to be engaged again to consult for the body on this same issue then that would be a mirage.

“Ten years ago we paid him to work on our Conditions of Service. He developed and submitted the documents to government on our behalf yet we’re still where we are till date.

“He cannot dictate to us what we should do as a body,” he told Fiifi Banson Monday on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

Mr Austin Gamey had condemned the GMA for acting illegally in their bid to get government respond to their conditions of service demand.

He accused the GMA of adopting an approach which is not in tandem with the law in the ongoing negotiation.

He urged the GMA to go ahead and resign as they’ve threatened.

Gamey expressed worry that by their misconduct exhibited in the process, ordinary Ghanaians have had to bear the brunt of their action which has cost the lives of innocent souls.
