President Akufo-Addo has asked beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy to sit up and learn hard to prove the efficiency of his government’s flagship programme.
He said he will be able to shame critics of the Free SHS policy if beneficiaries obtain good grades in the West Africa School Certificate Examination(WASCE).
Interacting with students at the St. Monica’s Senior High School in Ashanti Mampong in the Ashanti region, as part of his tour, the President said he’s confident beneficiaries won’t disappoint the nation.
“As you know not everybody wanted Free Senior High School Education. There are forces in this country there are opposed to it that did not want it, that said it was not possible, that said it was too big a dream on the nation’s resources, all kinds of reasons. And who have even indicated when they come to office gain they’ll review it. I want you to do one thing for me… The exams that will be here next year in June, will also be the first exams for products of the Free Senior High School system. Use the occasion to shame them. Everybody in Ghana will know that Yes, Free SHS was a good idea.”
Mr. Akufo-Addo is expected to wrap up his tour of the region today.
