First Liberty Micro Finance introduces products

First Liberty Micro Finance Ghana Limited, a leading microfinance company in the country, has introduced a variety of products to meet the needs of its growing clients.

The company, as a result of its extensive trustworthy products, has added the Ghana Police Service to its growing clientele list.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Ben Fankah, the Acting Managing Director of the company, said the company was focused on offering the best and most appropriate products that will serve the needs its clients.

He said though the company has the required capital and easily qualifies as per the Bank of Ghana criteria as a Savings and Loans entity, it has decided to stay within the microfinance bracket to make a strong case for the industry that is currently beset by scandals.

He said officers of the company as part of their duties educate clients on personal funds utilisation and other business related practices saying this is important as there is the need to offer clients adequate education before they are introduced to loan facilities.

He said this year, it is the intention of the company to sign on more public and privates institutions as the company has many competitive products that would appeal to them.

Mr Fankah said the company currently offers a wide range of products including personal loans, salary loans, rent advance, educational loans amongst others aimed at meeting their emergent needs.

It is a member of Lymin Creek Group of Companies, a fully Ghanaian owned company, with a mission to be the preferred and trusted name in micro banking/finance.The taxi driver who thwarted the escape of two robbers involved in the Cantonments robbery incident will receive a “handsome” reward, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command ASP Afia Tenge has announced.

At a press briefing following the robbery incident on Sunday, ASP Tenge revealed, “I have the directives of the Inspector-General of Police to announce that at an appropriate time, the taxi driver and all those who contributed to the arrest of the suspects will be handsomely rewarded.”

Former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has since the incident congratulated the taxi driver for his brave action.

The two robbers, Obaleko Stanley, 35 and Oko Quarcoo, 30, attacked and shot a lady in her leg near the American Embassy at East Cantonments and tried to escape with her belongings.

The taxi driver, who was a witness to the robbery incident, pursued the two robbers who were escaping on a motorbike and crashed into them with his car, injuring the robbers and leading to their arrest.

They sustained fractures and are on admission at the Police Hospital.

The robbery is reported to have been orchestrated by one Gilbert Osabutey, 36, a supervisor at the Koala Shopping centre where the victim also worked as a sales girl.

Gilbert Osabutey and another accomplice, 28-year old Michael Doe Ahiataku, a security man, have been arrested and are in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

The victim is currently on admission at the 37 military hospital and is responding to treatment.
