The Wa police have arrested five farmers at Kpari, near Wa, for allegedly polluting a river with DDT insecticide to facilitate their fishing. According to Inspector Daniel Dorkpoh, Upper West Police Regional Police Public Relations Officer, the river is the only source of drinking water for the entire community. The suspects, Abudu Karkraba, Yussif Mwene, Atta Daremwene, Malik Bukari, and Jako Saaka, have been released on bail and would appear in court on March 22.
