Employ qualified medical officers - GFA

The Ghana FA says it will be implementing a policy to have only trained and qualified personnel to be part of the medical team of clubs.

This notice was given by GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi at a graduation ceremony for Masseurs from the University of Ghana, College of Health Sciences on Thursday.

Clubs in Ghana often resort to the use of unqualified medical personnel in their operations over claims they are unable to retain such high-paid staff.

But the GFA says it will be insisting on the use of only qualifies practitioners in their bid to enhance the medical care for footballers in the country.

“Without formal training or acquisition of skills from this trade, we will not allow people such people to sit on the bench for clubs,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

“So club administrators will be made aware of this policy to ensure that their medical department is enhanced with qualified personnel.”
