Edumadze Campaigns For Veep

THE IMMEDIATE past Central Regional Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency, Mr. Isaac Edumadze on Sunday turned his birthday party into a mini-rally when he openly declared his support for the presidential bid of Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Mr Edumadze, who had been on the quite since his removal from office, surprised many who attended his 50th anniversary birthday celebration at his resident in Ajumako, when he openly declared that he will vote for the Vice President at the upcoming National Delegates’ Congress of the NPP.

His 50th birthday, which coincided with Ghana’s Golden jubilee independence anniversary, was attended by polling station executives, leading members of NPP and chiefs among others.

He said he was in support of Alhaji Aliu’s candidature because each time the President was not around it was the Vice President who took up the mantle of leadership.

Therefore, he saw Alhaji Aliu as the one who could continue the work of the President.

The MP advised members of NPP to rescind their decision not to vote for the party in 2008 if their favourites were not elected at the congress.

Mr. Edumadze said without him, NPP would not survive in the region.

Mr. Alex Bruce Appiah, an NPP activist based in Accra, called for unity among party members so that the party could win the 2008 general elections.

Mr. Appiah said the NPP government had done a lot for the country so the electorate must give it another mandate to continue its good work.

He mentioned the School Feeding Programme, National Health Insurance Scheme and National Youth Employment Programme as some of the manifestations of the NPP government’s good works.

Mr. C.K Man, a popular local musician, was at the party to entertain friends of Mr Edumadze.
