Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has urged road users and drivers to observe traffic regulations as part of measures to reduce carnage on the road during the Easter season.

Over the years, drunkenness and reckless driving has often resulted in high car crashes during Easter. Such accidents are concentrated in the Eastern Region’s Kwahu area, which is synonymous with the Easter celebration.

Advising Ghanaians on how simple observation of traffic rules could save lives on the road during the season, the governing NDC’s Klottey Korle parliamentary aspirant, whose eligibility is as a candidate is being challenged in court by incumbent Nii Armah Ashitey, wrote on her Facebook wall that: “I stopped counting the number of vehicles that jumped red lights this afternoon. What percentage of those people will be pointing fingers at other people committing crimes that they perceive as being worse than theirs?”

“There is a sound reason why we have light sequences, zebra crossings, demarcations on the roads etc. Lawlessness starts at the level of the individual! Let us abide by the rules of the road and keep the death toll as low as possible during the season!” the daughter of former President John Rawlings said.
