Dormaahene lauds Akufo-Addo’s one district, one factory policy

The Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has prayed for Nana Akufo-Addo’s “One District One Factory” campaign promise to come to pass.

Speaking at his Abrempedease Palace at Dormaa-Ahenkro when the NPP flagbearer paid a courtesy call on him, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu noted that unemployment, particularly among the youth, had been a major bane to the economic development of Ghana, and that the assurance by Nana Akufo-Addo to tackle unemployment at the district level was welcome news.

He said though chiefs are not permitted to actively engage in partisan politics, he would not hesitate to applaud Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP if they come to power and deliver on the “one district one factory”, as promised.

“Chiefs are supposed to be politically neutral, but I will applaud you and your NPP government if the one district one factory promise is fulfilled, so that all the three districts, namely Dormaa East, Wamfie, Dormaa Central, Dormaa-Ahenkro and Dormaa West, Nkrankwanta within the Dormaa Traditional Area become beneficiaries,” Nana indicated.

He said such a bold move would go a long way to assist in curbing the unemployment situation within the Dormaa Traditional Area, and the entire country, if Ghanaians voted Nana Akufo and the NPP to power, adding that he (Dormaahene) does not have the power to install he (Nana Addo) as President, but the divine wish of God can only install a President.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu also called for peace before, during, and after the elections, saying politicians and their followers must eschew the use of vulgar languages, insults, and character assassination.

He chastised the panellists and the host who attacked the Supreme Court judges on Accra-based Montie FM, saying such attacks and threats must not be entertained.

The Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area also condemned Kennedy Agyapong on his derogatory comments on the EC Chairperson, Madam Charlotte Osei, stressing politicians must be polite in their utterances, in order not to inflame passions that would create chaos.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo charged the EC to be fair in its dealings and come out with a credible register and processes that would not give any of the parties’ misgivings about the results of the incoming general elections.

He said, in their quest to insist on credible register and processes to have fair electoral results, the political parties will come up with various concerns and attacks, but the EC must be firm, fair, and focussed, as well as give hearings to all issues and concerns raised for an amicable resolution.

According to Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu, as the referee, the EC must be mindful of some of the election-related violence in some parts of the African Continent, and insist on the right thing, in order not to plunge the country into chaos.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo must advise his members and followers to be polite in their campaigns, and resort to legal means whenever there is an uncertainty, instead of taking the laws into their own hands.

“It has always not been right when someone deliberately tries to cheat you. As a human being you won’t allow, and it was on this line that prior to the previous elections, your words “All die be die”, were misunderstood and misinterpreted by your opponents,” Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu said.

Nana Akufo-Addo, on his part, thanked the Dormaahene and assured him of ensuring peace, before, during, and after the 2016 elections.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the “One District One Factory” promise would be a reality, if only Ghanaians support him and the NPP to win power.

He also gave the assurance that the free Senior High School (SHS) promised in 2012, will still be implemented when voted to power, while the teacher and nurses training allowances would be restored, and the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS), which is on the verge of collapse, would be revived.
