Pollster and newspaper Editor Ben Ephson says politicians using the just ended by-election in Talensi to determine their fortunes in the 2016 general elections are in for a shock.

In an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Ephson insisted the dynamics of the just ended elections may not be the actual reality on the ground, adding it would be suicidal for any Party to even think of using it to gauge their chances ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“For those who say results of Talensi is a forerunner to 2016,…… President Mahama said it, Nana Akufo Addo said it, for me it is not true. You can use this as a barometer.

“If you want to get results in places which give you a sense of 17 months ahead to elections… Odododiodio in Greater Accra where Nkrumah an Nzema beat a Ga to win the seat… is a swing constituency, Effutu in Central Region, but this is no indicator for the 2016 elections.”

Tuesday’s elections saw the ruling NDC reclaim its seat in the constituency with its candidate BT Baba polling some 10, 366 votes representing 42.31% of the total votes cast while the NPP’s Wuni Thomas Duanab polled 6,845 votes representing 27.94%.
