Dery’s lawyer, 8 others hauled before DC for misconduct

Nine prominent lawyers including counsel for embattled High Court judge Justice Paul Dery have been hauled before the disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council.

They have been accused of professional misconduct and not complying with directives relating to their jobs.

They are expected to appear before the committee on February 25.

A notice pasted at the court which was signed by the secretary to the committee Bernard Bentil said “In the event of failure to do so, the committee will proceed to hear the respective case on the basis of the evidence before it”.

The lawyers are, Frederick Nii Ashie, George Mensah Ankomah, Charles Owusu Juanah, Kofi Adde, Kwame Amoako, Larry Apaloo, Charles Yeboah, Borazo Agbley and Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo.

The notice added that the above lawyers “should appear before the disciplinary committee of the General Legal Counsel for a preliminary hearing of respective complaint of professional misconduct lodged against them.

“Notice is hereby given to each of the above mentioned lawyers to appear before the committee February 25, 2016 for preliminary hearing of the various complaints made against them at the secretariat of the General Legal Counsel at 2 pm.

“In the event of failure to do so, the committee will proceed to hear the respective case on the basis of the evidence before it.”
