A Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Robert Ahomka-Lindsey cast his ballot at the Emmanuel Eye Clinic polling station at exactly 0751 hours in the Ayawaso West Wougon by-election.
The Deputy Minister arrived at the polling centre at 0749 hours and within two minutes, he went through the verification process and voted.
A total of 1,137 registered voters were in the local register and expected to cast their ballots by the close of polls at 1700hours.
The by-election was necessitated by the sudden demise of the NPP Member of Parliament MP) for the area, Emmanuel Kyermanteng Agyarko in November 21.
The vacant seat is being contested by four candidates including; Madam Lydia Alhassan, of the New Patriotic Party, and widow of the late MP, Delali Kwasi Brempong, of the National Democratic Congress, William Kofi Doworkpor, of the Progressive People's Party and Clement Boadi, of the Liberal Party of Ghana.
More than 80,000 voters in the constituency are expected to vote in the by-election.
