A flagbearer hopeful of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has said he has no blot of corruption on his image, a reason why he deserves a chance to lead the NDC in the next election.
To him, the corruption tag against the NDC contributed to the loss of the party in the 2016 election calling on the rank and file of the party to watch it in the next polls.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra, Dr Spio-Garbrah said his personal image as a politician without a record of corruption would endear him and the NDC to many Ghanaians to give the party another shot at power.
He reiterated that should he win the flag-bearer contest and get the mandate of Ghanaians to be President, his government would not shield any corrupt government official, no matter his relationship with the fellow.
In his view, the fight against corruption could only succeed if the leader himself is disciplined vis a vis corruption and has the will to deal with the corrupt individuals around him.
Ekwow Spio Garbrah, will face stiff opposition in the Flagbearership slot from the likes of ex-President John Dramani Mahama, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Alban Bagbin, and Sylvester Mensah among others.
