Some students of Afia Kobi Nursing Training College at Old Tafo, a surburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region have reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries when police and security task force of the Tafo Municipal Assembly (TMA) stormed the school.

The armed police officers and the task force of the Assembly, stormed the campus on Monday, 22 October 2018 to enforce a summon by the TMA after the school allegedly defied some sanitation by-laws.

Chaos erupted and some students were reportedly manhandled and sustained several injuries when they attempted to resist the arrest of the director of the school.

One of the students, Priscilla Tublu who sustained severe injuries has been admitted at the KATH emergency unit receiving treatment.

On Tuesday, October 23, the students trooped onto the streets to protest against what they described as 'unfair treatment by police'.

The school’s main gate was reportedly destroyed and hostels broken into by the security.

Director of the school, Samuel Osei King explained that, they had received summons from the Environmental Department of the Municipal for reported cases on sanitation, which they had already taken necessary measures.

But the presence of the security personnel on campus was a bit of a surprise to them.

He expressed worry about the incident and said the case has been reported to the Divisional Police Command in the municipality.
