The Adentan Municipal Assembly on Wednesday signed a Transaction Advisory Contract (TAC) for Public Private Partnership (PPP) with two companies to fast track developmental projects in the area.

PPP is a funding model backed by an Act of Parliament for public infrastructure projects and represented by government at the local and national levels.
The contract in a PPP programme includes funding, planning, operations maintenance and divestiture.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Benjamin Baroson Angenu signed on behalf of the Assembly while Felix Nana Sackey, Managing Partner, Delloitte & Touche and Albert Asrifi of Kwame Asante and Associates signed on behalf of their respective companies.

According to the MCE, the signing of the Transaction Advisory Contract for Private Partnership Programme with the two institutions which he described as experts in such deals will help the assembly identify the right investors for three of its key projects.

He mentioned the three areas as the construction of a multipurpose bus terminal at Ashaley Botwe, the upgrading of the Ogbojo market into a complex market and a recreational centre also at Ashaley Botwe Newtown.

The MCE disclosed that adequate consultations have taken place between the assembly and its key internal stakeholders such as traditional authorities, Ghana Private Road Transport Union(GPRTU) executives of the area and market queens as to the nature of the project and how they stand to benefit from it.

Mr. Angenu gave an assurance that the market women and other users of the place will be considered for allocation of stalls when the projects are finally completed.

Representatives of Delloitte & Touche and Kwame Asante Associates, Felix Nana Sackey and Albert Asirifi who took turns to address the meeting indicated that as experts in the PPP Programmes they will ensure that the best investor is identified for the municipality.

They indicated that the assembly’s initiative for a PPP arrangement will turn the assembly’s fortunes around making it a beacon for other assemblies to emulate.
