Ashgold's performance in G6 competition 'AVERAGE'

AshantiGold chief Kudjoe Fianoo AshantiGold chief Kudjoe Fianoo

AshantiGold chief Kudjoe Fianoo feels his side's display at the just ended FirsTrust G6 tournament was below par.

The Miners, touted as one of the favourites to win the maiden pre-season competition bowed out at the group stage without a win, scoring just a goal.

"I would rate our performance in the G6 average because after a series of trial matches, I thought we were to see a vintage Ashgold performance but it didn't happen" Fianoo said.

Following their triumph in the Ghanaian top-flight last season, Ashgold will represent the country in the CAF champions league this term.

And Fianoo admits the team has to work hard and improve before honouring their first assignment.

"The competition was a good one and it exposed us to problems in the team that we have to fix before 14th February," he added

Ashgold have been drawn against Algerian club Mouloudia Olympique de Bejaia in the preliminary stage of the continent's elite competition.

The first leg is expected to take place in Obuasi on February 14th with the second two weeks later in Algeria.
