The former Ismaily striker proved to be the match-winner but suffered a leg injury in Ahly's slim victory in Caf Confederation Cup on Saturday

Ghanaian striker John Antwi underlined his supremacy in front of goal when Al Ahly posted a 1-0 defeat to Tunisian side Esperance Sportive De Tunis in Caf Confederation Cup at the Stade Olympique de Radès on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Red Devils in June from Al Shabab in a reported $1million deal, wasted no time and poked Fathi Mabrouk's men noses in front early in the game. Antwi connected Ramadan Sobhy's squared pass from close range for the opener after six minutes.

He headed in another goal in second half that could have doubled his tally on the day but he was adjudged to be in an offside position by the assistant referee. Mabrouk later substituted Antwi in 73rd minute after he picked an ankle injury.

Goal understands that Antwi is likely to be sidelined for three weeks due to initial diagnose which proved to be an ankle sprain but the final MRI test will be conducted on Monday to confirm the severity of the injury.

Antwi, who won last season's top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League while at Ismaily, has enjoyed an enviable start at Ahly, scoring 5 goals in 4 games.

Ahly currently lead the Group A log with 10 points, one point ahead of Etoile Sportive and will host Stade Malien on September 10.
