The management of Ecobank Ghana Limited says all monies collected by the bank on behalf of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) were paid to the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

The Head of Corporate Communications at Ecobank Ghana, Rev Mrs Patricia Sappor, told The Finder that “all monies received by the bank were paid to the receiving body, the Bank of Ghana.”

"I wish to confirm Ecobank’s position that all monies collected on behalf of government were duly paid by Ecobank Ghana into the designated account at Bank of Ghana," she said.

It will be recalled that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, at its sitting on January 20 this year, indicated that Ecobank and GCB had withheld an amount of GHc83 million due for the Consolidated Fund at the BoG.

But Ecobank Ghana maintains that the monies were paid as they were received.

Rev. Sappor said, “Ecobank will continue to support the Government of Ghana in its revenue collection efforts."
