Acheampong and Nana Asare shortlisted for Award

Ghana duo Frank Acheampong and Nana Kwesi Asare have been named in a five-man shortlist for the Ebony Shoe award, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.

Both players have been pivotal for their respective clubs in the Belgian top flight.

Their competitors are Abdoulaye Diaby (Club Bruges, Mali), Sofiane Hanni (KV Malines, Algeria) and Frédéric Gounongbe (Westerlo, Benin).

Winger Acheampong has been key for Anderlecht for this season his explosive performances in the league and during their Europa League campaign.

The 22-year-old has scored ten goals including four in the league match.

Asare, who plays for defending champions Ghent, has been consistent in their title race.

The left back also put up convincing performances in the UEFA Champions League where they reached the last 16 stage.

The Ebony Shoe award is a awarded to the best African player or player of Africa extraction in the Jupiler Pro League.

The winner will be announced on 9 May 2016.

Ex-Ghana international Eric Addo is the only Ghanaian player to have won the prestigious award back in 1998 when he played for Club Brugge.
