Three persons have been confirmed dead after announcing the destoolment of Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Monday 16, April 2018 after he was found guilty of gross misconduct and insubordination.
Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, who has been the sole financier to reshaping of entire Atwima traditional area was having a litigation with Kwanwomahene, Nana Amponsa Kwaa, over a parcel of land situated at Anwaa in the Atwima Kwanwoma district of Ashanti region.
The case which was before the Kumasi Traditional Council chaired by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was adjourned to April 2018, for settlement with a directive by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, that no party should step on the land in dispute until they are told to do so.
After Otumfuo's order, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II went to the land to install an Odikro, leading to gross misconduct and insobordination as well flouted the Great Oath of Otumfuo which is referred to as (Ntam Kessie).
"I told you to live the land in dispute till I return from my trip abroad but due to insobordination you chose to do whatever you like but remember that there is only one Asantehene" Otumfuo revealed.
Speaking to OTEC news Isaac Nsiah Foster, some natives of Atwima traditional area confirmed three persons-Tony miner at Tarkwa, Maame Gyamfua and Antie Maggie have all been pronounced dead after collapsing when they heard the announcement of the destoolment of Atwimahene Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Otumfuo said some chiefs who are closed to him wanted to use his name to suppress others through dubious means without his consent.
He therefore cautioned other chiefs to eschew tendencies that would undermine his(Asantehene) authority, adding Atwimahene's case should be an example to all.
Otumfuo delegated 5 members from the Kumasi Traditional Council led by Nana Bonsu to ensure that former Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II performs a proper handing over of all the traditional properties that were in trusted in his care as Atwimahene on Tuesday 17, April 2018.
Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, was destooled on Monday 16, April 2018 at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
