Government would have attached the air Woyome breathes for sale if possible - Aide

An aide to embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, Reginald Seth Dogbey has slammed what he says is the government’s high-handedness in dealing with his boss regarding the debt the latter owes the State.

According to him, he’s confident that the government would have even attached the air Mr. Woyome breathes for sale if that was possible as it has done with his properties.

He made the statement after it emerged that the Attorney General turned down a request by Mr. Woyome for a meeting with the AG’s team to negotiate the outstanding judgment debt.

Mr. Woyome in a letter dated 8th July 2019 attached a proposed affidavit in support of a Motion for Stay of Execution and Payment by Installment and requested for a meeting with the AG and her team to discuss the details of the Affidavit to enable them to arrive at an amicable settlement before he filed same.

But in response, the AG in a letter dated 22nd July 2019 said she was unable to grant the request for obvious reasons.

The State has secured the blessing of the Supreme Court to proceed to sell two of the several properties of Alfred Woyome to offset the GHC51million judgment debt wrongly paid to him.

The two properties to be sold for now have a forced sale valued of 11.7 million Cedis and comprise of an executive building at Trassacco and a residential building at Caprice.

Speaking on the issue on Kasapa News, Reginald Seth Dogbey said following the AG turning down Mr. Woyome’s request, it is clear to him that the government is only bent of running down the businessman and leaving him without any means of sustenance.

“It seems to me that some people are not interested in the money but there’s something more they want. Come to think of the properties they’ve attached where his family is staying they’ve attached it they want to sell it, what will give the man sustenance at least when you owe you’ll pay when you have the means. The tools he’ll use to work to pay, the tools he’ll use to work to feed his family and enjoy the right to live, they attached that one too and you ask yourself what is it they want. They’ve attached all those things for sale, if people had their way I believe sadly they may even attach the air Mr Woyome breaths because for me it’s a clear indication it is not how the money will be paid people want but something more than that and I don’t know what that is.”
