A long-running paternity dispute involving Emmanuel Ampomah has taken a dramatic turn after DNA test results confirmed that he is not the biological father of a child he raised for ten years, prompting him to demand GH¢250,000 in compensation from his ex-wife, Emelia Nimo.

According to a report by adomonline.com and sighted by GhanaWeb on June 2, 2026, Emmanuel claims he was deceived into believing the child was his while suffering years of emotional pain, humiliation and public embarrassment.

The issue first gained public attention after Emelia appeared on the Obra Show, where she alleged that medical reports during their marriage indicated Emmanuel could not impregnate a woman.

Speaking on the programme at the time, Emelia admitted that pressure to have a child pushed her into another relationship, which resulted in the birth of the child.

She claimed she informed Emmanuel about the child’s paternity a year after birth, insisting he begged her to keep it secret because he was aware of his condition.

However, after years of controversy and public debate, a DNA test was eventually conducted, confirming Emmanuel was not the biological father.

DNA Shock: Man wants GH¢70,000 back after learning child isn't his

Reacting to the results on a recent edition of the Obra Show, an emotional Emmanuel said the revelation had devastated him.

“I accepted the child wholeheartedly and took responsibility as a father for ten years. Meanwhile, she kept insulting and embarrassing me publicly, even telling people I was impotent. Now the DNA results prove everything she said in anger was true,” he said.

He added that the emotional toll of the ordeal outweighed the financial burden of raising the child.

“I have suffered emotionally and psychologically. The whole world has followed this issue, and now everyone knows I was deceived. That is why I am demanding GH¢250,000,” he added.

Host Ohemaa Benewaa also urged Emelia to apologise to Emmanuel, saying: “What this man has gone through is painful. Regardless of everything, he stood by the child and played the role of a father. You hurt him deeply, and you need to apologise sincerely.”

Meanwhile, the man alleged to be the biological father reportedly declined to appear on the programme, with his sister insisting the family would only accept responsibility after an independent DNA test.

“My brother is happily married, and we do not want confusion in his marriage. Besides, there are other men also claiming ownership of the child, so another DNA test must be conducted before anyone points fingers,” she stated.
