A 32-year-old man, Mayemoh Gyangamo, from the Northern Region, is demanding a refund of GH¢70,000 from his girlfriend, Maakua, a native of Asante Bekwai, after a DNA test allegedly proved that he is not the biological father of her daughter, Patricia Donkor.

The matter was discussed on Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme aired on Oyerepa TV on January 30, 2026.

Speaking on the show, Gyangamo recounted the financial burden he claims to have borne after Maakua became pregnant.

According to him, Maakua’s family demanded several payments from him, including an outright GH¢7,500, which he said was taken by her father after he got Maakua pregnant.

“If the child is not mine, then I will take all the money that I have spent. When she got pregnant, her father took GH¢8,000 from me,” he said.

He further stated that the medical and related expenses during the pregnancy and childbirth exceeded GH¢50,000, while additional costs amounted to about GH¢20,000.

“The father took GH¢7,500, I also bought several items for the family, bringing the total to about GH¢8,000,” he explained.

Gyangamo alleged that Maakua had earlier informed him that she was a royal and, for that reason, could not continue the relationship after giving birth.

He expressed frustration over what he described as unfair treatment by her family, stating that they wasted his time and resources. As a result, he insists on retrieving all the money he spent and says he is unwilling to compromise.

“I spent about GH¢33,000 on the child’s naming ceremony alone,” he added.

He further disclosed that Maakua underwent surgery during childbirth, for which he paid GH¢2,500.

He also claimed to have given her GH¢3,000 to purchase baby items, an additional GH¢1,000 as support and money for an attempted abortion during the pregnancy.

He also mentioned buying her a mobile phone.
