Asantehemaa's Burial: Here are rules essential government workers must follow

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has announced directives to guide essential government workers during the funeral and burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, in line with instructions from the Manhyia Palace.

In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the council directed that all essential government workers must wear their official service uniforms and carry valid identification cards throughout the period of the funeral.

It further instructed that they commute to and from their duty stations using official government vehicles.

“As much as practicable, essential government workers should commute to and from their duty stations in official government vehicles,” it said.

Otumfuo leads solemn burial rites for late Asantehemaa

The ARCC stated that all exempted institutions and essential workers must cooperate with the movement restrictions.

"All exempted institutions and essential workers are advised to cooperate fully with security personnel and other regulatory agencies enforcing the movement restrictions," the statement added.

The final day of the funeral rites is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2025.

The late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, was the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

She ascended the stool in 2020, succeeding her late mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, and served until her passing.
