The late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, was buried on the night of Thursday, September 19, 2025, after her four-day traditional funeral rites.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is now expected to choose a successor to the late Konadu Yiadom III, who was his senior sister, within two weeks.
After a new queen mother is enstooled, she, together with the Asantehene, will organise the final funeral rites of the late Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III in a year.
But before the selection of the next Asantehemaa, the paramount queen mother of Kokofu (Kokofuhemaa), who, together with the Kenyasihemaa, play important roles in the selection of the next queen mother of the Asante Kingdom, act as the regent of her stool.
How the next Asantehemaa, a custodian of the Golden Stool, will be chosen
The current Kokofuhemaa is Osagyefo Kissiwa Baayie II, a royal of the Oyoko royal clan, like the Asantehene and the Asantehemaa.
Kissiwa Baayie II is one of the powerful paramount queens of Asanteman with the title, Osagyefo.
According to an article published by theasantenation.com, Osagyefo Kissiwa Baayie II is known privately as Christiana Adu Gyamfi.
