If countries like Senegal have implemented their own version of the this law( ROPAL) that allows every Senegalese outside their country the opportunity to exercise their franchise why can't we do it. If you don't have the idea to implement it, don't limit it to everyone. Ghana is supposed to be a role model for democracy and advancement for other African countries to emulate, but there are too many pessimists and nay Sayers within our mist which turns to affect our efforts to advance in my ways. More than twenty five years ago before I migrated to the US, the Ivorians had their Taxi cabs equipped with taxi meters so it was easy for every non French speaking visitor to visit and also transact their businesses without any hurdles, all you needed to do was to hand over your destination to the driver and relax, at the end of the journey, all you do is just handover your money to the driver. More than twenty five years down the road we in Ghana still bargain on a taxi fare like a second hand clothing market. What a shame!!! Ok what happens if for instance a Japanese or a Korean, Chinese, Brazilian or any non English speaking business executive or visitor decides to visit and transact a business in solely and low profile fashion? How is he going to get around town without hiring an interpreter? Again the Ivorians had a reliable advance municipal bus services called the Sotra in Abidjan and most of their cities. So it was quite easy for visitors to get around either French speaking or not. This helped to attract businessmen from around the globe which in turn propelled a growth in their hospitality and services sector of their economy. Hotels, restaurants, retailers and hosts of businesses were thriving because of these few reliable efforts. However the Ivorians did not have a sound footing in political and social aspects of their life as we are currently enjoying in Ghana. All I'm saying is that we Ghanaians have the factors and conducive atmosphere to help us do better if we can lay aside these tendencies of the unyielding pragmatism and pessimistic approach to do things.

We have no proper ID system and you're talking of Ghanaians abroad voting! I even wonder how many of them will vote! Let's fix our country first, instead of thinking of how to win elections that r due in four years time.

Solomon Nkansah has 'little brain" and makes arguments without thinking through. His propaganda mentality betrays his childishness.
1. Without ROPAL lost the 2016 elections miserably with Nana Addo / NPP beating NDC over Million votes.
2. Hahaha NDC's rigging plan was totally broken down with the reforms which the EC and IPAC put in place.
3. What is the NDC afraid of? Did we not hear from General Mosquito that NDC has hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians residing in Togo and other neighboring countries?
4. Where was Solomon Nkansah when Dr. Afari Gyan indicated in court that one of the reasons why the voter register of 2012 exceeded the expected number was that he registered over 200,000 Ghanaians abroad.
5. Has Solomon Nkansah forgotten that late Prof Mills promised to activate ROPAL? NDC wanted to bring ROPAL into effect; was it for the purpose of rigging?
6. Nana Addo / NPP will surely implement the National ID system within two years to make our national database stronger. Why didn't NDC put the national ID system in place but rather spoiled the 'whole show'
7. NDC will truly catch cold on anything that will move Ghana forward.

Why is Solomon Nkansah and NDC fuming? The law was passed 10yrs ago so what's the fuss here? Folks would recall that in the lead up to the 2016 elections, Asiedu-Nketia was spotted in neighbouring West African countries eg, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso trying to recruit people to come and vote. When contacted, he said he was just touring those countries to remind Ghanaians living there to come vote. Those were Ghanaians in the "diaspora" as all citizens living outside the borders of Ghana.
Meanwhile, the NDC did everything in their power to subdue the call for all known Ghanaians living abroad, esp., Europe, The Americas and Continental Asia. Using dirty tricks, the NDC in collaboration with the EC had always rigged elections; they started way back in 1992, when late Prof Adu Boahen challenged Rawlings in the elections.
Prof. Adu Boahen would observe in his book: "The Stolen Verdict" when everything pointed to a win for him and the NPP. The noble Historian and Dean Emeritus would lament on Ghana's skewed and oblique elections and politics. The nobleman quit politics esp. when the 1992 constitution allowed the Rawlings and his P/NDC gov't to select who heads the EC.
NDC have never won any elections since Rawlings and his NDC apparatchiks were forced to return Ghana to democratic governance by powerful allies eg. The UK, USA and Germany among others. Kuffour's gov't made sure ROPAL was passed into law in 2006; the NDC used lies, deception and "buga-buga" tactics to stifle every genuine demand or request by Ghanaians in the diaspora. Folks would recall that in the 2012 elections, Dr. Afari-Djan could only produce 706 foreign voters when he'd told the courts that over 714 thousand Ghanaians were originally enrolled by the EC? Wonders will never end!
Now the NDC is feeling the heat; they can't hide this time as they've always been able to do. ROPAL is here; let all believers in the scheme shout Hallelujah..!! NDC is doomed forever and that's why they're making all the noise. Great thanks to H.E. President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for keeping his election promise.

Mr Nkansa so why didn't your government correct the structures when they were in power so that we can also vote?
Kwasia
Fool, you and your bloody npp scoundrels will have accused the ndc government of bringng in foreigners to vote, like the liar bawumia's Togo accusation, so you are now trying to do the same.
We are talking about Ghanaians living abroad and not foreigners. A law was passed by parliament 10 years ago to register us to ensure we get the opportunity to vote during elections and all that this government is trying to d ...

I can't wait to welcome ROPAL. This time I hope that idiot and liar Bawumia will not complain when the Ewes vote in Togo and Benin.

Ewes in Togo and Benin will be eligible to vote when ROPAL is implemented but Togolese and Benoise can not vote.
Dr Bawumia was complaining about Togolese and Benoise who the NDC has been using to rig other elections. They w ...

I think some of you cannot put on your thinking caps. ROPAL will help NDC more than NPP unless it is planned to rig the elections.

Can you please tell us how ROPAL will help NDC who have no support outside Ghana?
You have said it all. That will be the biggest mistake on npp. There are silent majority of ndc supporters outside as well.
Yes they don't have support outside because most of the people outside are criminals who fled the country during Rawlings's era for financial malfeasance.Mention bank managers, accountants, finance officers etc!
