The president has been saying that he tried to introduce electronic payment and acquisition systems into the public sector {to reduce human contact with cash} in his effort to fighting corruption, but lamented that the systems were often resisted.
This has become so monotonous that Ghanaians are beginning to wonder whether the president is actually serious and interested in fighting corruption as he claims, or it's just another crocodile's tears to deceive Ghanaians into believing that he is making an effort, while the government and its cronies amass billions of dollars at the expense of this struggling HIPC nation.
Why should Ghanaians hire a president that can't even introduce an electronic system successfully into the public sector to save us from criminals masquerading as civil servants? Mr. Mahama must be seen to be fighting corruption with all his might rather than go on lamenting helplessly like the rest of us who hired him to do the job.

There was a guy who had been having chronic trouble in trying to get an erection. After weeks of frustration, he finally breaks down and and goes to the doctor. The doctor gives him a thorough examination and finally makes the diagnosis.
"Well, there's good news and there's bad news," she says. "The bad news is that the muscles around your penis are deteriorating, and there is no cure."
The guy, on the verge of panic, finally regains his composure. "So what's the good news?" he asks.
The doctor says: "There is an experimental treatment available, but there are no guarantees. It involves transplanting the muscles from a baby elephant's trunk into your penis. Would you like to try it?"
The guy thinks about it and finally says, "Well, the thought of going through life without being able to have sex is just too much for me. What have I got to lose? Let's do it."

Welcome to Ghanaian Politics, Samia! She had a lucky chance winning the Jomoro Seat for Parliament so easily the last time. This time, it could be different. Folks may still give her the Parliamentary Seat. But the Presidency could escape her for a long, long time. No wonder our System is riddled with massive, incurable corruption today. If Samia thought she would play the 'honest dame' among these elitist rotten bunch of Politicians and win over them ever so soon, she was sadly mistaken.
She may have to stay in Parliament, at best, for an extended period to build the necessary bond among the 'bossy cliques' to be anywhere closer to become the next President of Ghana. Other than that, it would take extraordinary selfless devotion to the People and the Nation, comingling with the rural folks in the remotest corner of the country and leading most local project initiatives to earn the exceptional immediate favor of being chosen for the Presidency.
The sheer fact that her Mother is an Egyptian riles some Ghanaians who easily use that in gossip to cut her down. She has to do more than the average Politician to affirm her Ghanaianness before winning the electoral support she would need.

Pollster Ben Ephson has asserted that the political influence of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana’s politics has hugely waned and hence it could not propel his daughter- Samia Nkrumah- to victory in the recently held CPP Presidential race.
Political pundits had tipped Samia above her other contestants in the CPP race following the media hype as well as the influence of her father in Ghanaian politics as the first leader of the West African nation, but she polled 579 votes as against Greenstreet’s 1,288. The others, Joseph Agyapong and Bright Akwetey secured 83 and 42 votes respectively.
Ephson, who had always insisted political dynasty is alien to politics in Ghana, noted on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Monday that Samia couldn’t make inroads into the elections, since “there is a limit to how much she can use her father’s influence to win an election”
“You cannot ride on the back of your father’s glory to win election,” besides, the leading polls researcher said her father’s time is past and will not do the trick for her in elections.
But notwithstanding her defeat in the CPP flagbearership race, Samia Nkrumah has given wind of her intent to contest again the Jomoro parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.
In her estimation, her quest to win back the Jomoro seat will better place her to serve the CPP again.

No exchange of ideas; no rational debate on issues; polarization of society; and lies and insults all over the air waves and media. At the end of it all he who pays more wins more votes and wins an election. In this scenario our multi-party democracy can never be made a tool for national development and corruption will continue to thrive and worsen the plight of the poor, particularly the extreme poor.

Even within the different political parties, there are lots and lots of in-fighting to determine who sits around the table. She is learning, and is good to learn through the hard way. His father went through similar ordeal. He was part of the UCGC before breaking up to form the CPP. I'm glad she is now determined to contest the JOMORO seat, and believe me, she will win. She had gone through the basic lessons and will come out stronger next time.
