Yes, because it not an obligation for everyone that is eligible to register and subsequently vote go ahead to do just that since it's one own choice to do so in that country and same is experienced across most of Western Europe countries with more than 10 million population. Those having less than 11 million inhabitant are seriously obliged or one faces a summon up to the court and a fined afterwards for abstaining from his or her own right stipulated by constitution. In Ghana, not everybody that is register goes to vote since it not obliged just like most of the countries across the globe.

Do you know how much it will cost the taxpayer in compiling a new register? Even if you suspect the register is bloated it will have no effect on voting process. The money for undertaking such an excercise could be used for buying chalk and text books for Kukurantumi Presbyterian School.

It will be surprising if Nana does not believe that, the present voters register is biometric. As seen in the recent Talensi elections, the biometric features of the register proved reliable.
There is no cogent reason why we should throw away a biometric register and get a fresh one at a huge cost when we all agree that the economy is not in good shape. The only thing reasonable to do now is to reopen registration for newly qualified voters and those qualified whose names are yet to be captured.
Nana's argument is that the current register is bloated because the registered voters percentage of our population is 56%. Supposing a new register is compiled and the same percentage is repeated or surpassed, shall we go for another one again?
It is easy to explain why our voters register should have more people than necessary assuming this is so. Once names are captured into the register, they are never removed again even if a voter dies. A voter turn-out of less than 70% is acceptable. At any rate, the biometric nature of the register will ensure that only real voters vote and only once hence there is nothing to worry about.
