Ghanaian media will make mountains out of anthills. The other day they were calling artistes organizing a Dumsor-vigil CELEBRITIES. Is every artiste a celebrity? First and foremost the power problem is a cumulative and govts past and present ought to be blamed.
Today the educational report is blamed on the current govt. But if you check here timss.bc.edu/timss2003i/intl_reports.htm
you will notice that the problem is not new. Ghana has always remained at the bottom. Much as Nana is right to prioritize education, Ghana’s position in these comparisons has always been low and no one govt can be blamed for it.

Among the 76 countries sampled and listed there were only 3 African Countries, South Africa, Morocco and Ghana. Where do the other 51 African Countries come in? If Ghana is 76th out of all the countries globally, where does Nigeria come in? How about Togo, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ethiopia Sudan, Algeria, Egypt, etc, where do they come in? Do all of these rank higher than Ghana? If Ghana was among the sampled countries, I believe there must be a reason and that reason could not be that Ghana's educational standards are very low.

I was expecting to read this and hence not surprised at all. For the likes of the NPP, this is not the first time Ghana is participating in large-scale international assessments like the one reported by OECD. There is another large-scale international assessment conducted every 4-years since 1995 for 13-year students ie grade 8 (JHS 2) and Ghana has participated in 2003, 2007, and 2011. It is called Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). The NPP should go back to the results of this assessment in 2003 and 2007 and compare it to the results of the OECD and they will realize that the results of the OECD is similar to that of the TIMSS 2003 and 2007. Those who want more details can check this address: timss.bc.edu/timss2003i/intl_reports.htm

3. Estimates of data quality
The quality of the IQ data was defined based on the number of
independent studies available for each country and the total sample
size in all studies combined. The following scores were given for total
sample size:
1 10,000
The IQ quality score was calculated by adding this score to the
number of independent IQ studies available for the country, with the
maximum capped at 25.
For school achievement, countries were awarded 2 points for
each PISA or 8th-grade TIMSS study in which they participated.
Those that did not participate in PISA or 8th-grade TIMSS were
awarded 1 point for each of the other assessments in which they
participated. The maximum score was 16 for countries participating in
all four PISA and all four TIMSS studies.

Where's the hypocrisy about this, my brother Kwame? The information you provided only confirms the fact that we as a people need to sit up and think seriously about education and stop this useless politics about an important issue such as the education of our children. I thought this is what NPP has been preaching all this time. Our children are our future as a nation and if we continue to joke with their education then we must realise that we've condemned them to a lifetime of ignorance and deprivation. Can we for once think as one people with a common destiny and stop this name calling business and insults?

One of the critical elements of this enabling is to control population growth. Look at China. One family one child. What do we see today in America. So many Chinese students because their parents are abler to finance their education in top US institutions. It is simple. If you have one child and you take good care of the child s/he will grow to attain greater heights that having many pushed through 15 year old secondary education but who cannot proceed after that because their parents cannot afford.

This is not true. The NPP has colaborated with IEA & the international community in several ways & many instances to downgrade Ghana.I heard that useless & irresponsible nana akomea leaving in his mothers house talking about this on one of the npp rented radio stations today. It is rather a disgrace on the part of npp that they cannot win any election on merit but with "kululu".Before this current system,we had one going through primary to P6,for 6 years, then to the midlde school for 4 years, then to the secondary school for 5 yrs, then to 6th form for two yrs,all together,17 years before one could go to the university.
There was absolute nothing wrong for the country to change the system. The system we run now is not different from what the US has has been pratising for centuries. This is all politcs to help Akuffo become president, but not in Ghana. We know what is going on.

It is trite knowledge that investment in education leads to better socio-economic outcomes and creates the conditions for social mobility upwards of north, in any given setting.
Numerous examples abound all over the world to show how societies have transitioned their socio-economic development from one of primitiveness to one of advancement on the back of development of the brain, the intellectual output of the educated or developed brain and in some cases, the gifted.
However, this has not been the case with respect to Ghana as the report clearly indicates. Instead of a progressive or positive growth trajectory with respect to education, the results show Ghana is in a race against itself to the bottom of the pile, with this projected to remain so, for a considerable length of time, based on the recklessness, mismanagement and bad policies and programs of most especially the NDC gov't, which has been at the forefront of Ghana's administration for almost 3 decades ending in 2017.
The results from this study cannot be described as having arisen as a one off event, but rather a consistent and schematic set of very, very poor choices and very bad policies and programs that have been brought to bear on our educational sector in this country.
Standards of education have really fallen, with failure rates and quality metrics falling consistently and persistently in recent times, and with a gov't that has not attached the kind of importance to education and the development of the intellect, as the primary driver of sustainable long term socio-economic growth and development, Ghana is in trouble. With the development paradigm where natural resources has been described as drivers of growth debunked by tomes of literature, as being unsustainable, this report clearly serves as a wake up call on the leadership of this country to reassess, recalibrate and re-strategize on what really would benefit the country and sustain it over the long term.
Increasingly in this century and beyond, the intellectual output of the developed brain, it is envisaged and rightly so, would be the primary drivers of the global economy and the NPP and Akufo Addo are once again on the right and proper side of the debate, in their belief and conviction that education is one of the utmost critical factors that over the long term has promise and much favourable and excellent prospects that would inure to the benefit of the country.
Indeed, it is not for anything that some of the world's largest economies are investing heavily in STEM to stay at the forefront of the various innovations and developments that would increasingly be critical to the global economy.
And with Ablakwa and Co. driving this process in the reverse direction, we are afraid the prospects look extremely bleak if not non-existent.
Ghana deserves and needs CHANGE at the ballot box in 2016 because this by far the worst and most appalling gov't ever.

You will think by now Akufo Addo will mesmerize all Ghanaians by showing us a copy of his Law certificate. Right now, everyone believe he has none. It has been a long time that this certificate thing has been in the media and no one in NPP will simply ask the man to put this stain on him to bed. Ghanaians are no fools, we know the difference between a certified lawyer and a Lawyer wanna-be. Lie Lie Kapwepwe. He will LOOSE the 2016 elections if he does not show us his Law certificate. To the Mate-meho NPP members who are following this man like sheep, pressure Nana to tell the truth. He is as crooked as a dog's hind legs. What is standing between him and Jubilee house is a Law certificate that he is supposed to have, my friends.

HA, HA, HA AAAAAAAAA! OFUI, TWEAAAAAAA! AKUFO ADDO VENDICATED FOR WHAT? WHERE IS AKUFO-ADDO'S POLICY ON EDUCATION? YOU RATHER MEAN HE HAS BEEN VENDICATED FOR PRESENTING HIS LAW CERTIFICATE FOR PERUSAL? WHY SHOULD OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS TAKE ANY KEEN INTEREST IN SCHOOLING/EDUCATION IF OUR SO CALLED MENTOR/LEADER COULD FAKE A LEGAL CERTIFICATE AND PRACTICE AS A LAWYER FOR YEARS. ONE DOESN'T NEED A CERTIFICATE IT'S WHOM YOU KNOW AND YOU'LL GET EASY MEMBERSHIP TO GHANA BAR SAAOCIAION WITH THE HELP OF THE INSIGNIFICANT AND SELF-IMPOSED SAM OKUDZETO AND CO.
The hallmark of NDC is thievery. What do they care about education? NDC, our stupidity at the polls is our current suffering.
Your message was Free SHS not quality WE asked what about quality. Stop telling lies
This is all talks as the NPP has no education policy to deal with the current decline in educational standards.

Shouldn't we rather do our mathematics this way boss: That education in our country has slumped to its all time lowest. Therefore what are the factors which are causing this and its impact on economic growth.
LOOK AT THIS MAN WITHOUT A CERFITICATE TALKING THIS, BRING YOUR CERTIFICATE AND THEN WE WILL LISTEN TO YOU.
What does this Akuffo Addo knows about education. He should shut his big mouth up and think of himself.
Akufo Addo only badmouths Ghana. He never sees anything good about Ghana. All he wants is power. He has NO PLANS, NO SOLUTIONS, NO MANIFESTO, NO VISION, NO CLUE!
I WOULD NOT HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER. IS THIS MAN A GENUINE LAWYER? I HAVE BEEN READING DIFFERENT VERSIONS ABOUT HIS QUALIFICATION AND SO FAR NO CONCRETE ANSWERS. IF GHANA'S EDUCATION IS BAD, IT MUST HAVE STARTED WITH HIM. HOW ...

Akufo Addo will be vindicated when he shows us even a copy of his Law Certificate. That should not be hard to do, should it?
The hypocrisy about this is that, the NPP didn't notice that the standard of education was so bad in 2003 and 2007 whiles the results of the TIMSS were just as the results released by OECD.
This will not win power for NPP.never
NPP is right on this. We need education that really trains people to be very productive. It does not mean education must be free. It means creating enabling environment for parents to be able to sponsor their kids.
