Could you also remember that he used to take 'Kenkey' to Legon to demonstrate how the size had shrunk under Liman, and we ended up with the "Rawlings' Chain" in his regime but nobody could talk? And could you also remember that Nkrumah used to incite workers to strike against the Whiteman and later on outlawed strikes and said they were unpatriotic in his regime when the economic situation was genuinely difficult for workers?
I don't believe that NPP is behind the present wave of strikes. To my understanding, it is only highlighting the failings and excesses of the government, hopping that it would translate into votes for the party in the next elections. And that is, in fact, a genuine politics. Everybody in Ghana knows that the cost of living under the NDC government is unbearable, and NPP could be seizing the opportunity to convince Ghanaians not to vote for NDC in the next elections. Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with highlighting the failings of an incapable government in order to wrestle power from it democratically. NDC is the cause of the strikes because of corruption, over spending, over borrowing and economic mismanagement that brought untold hardship on Ghanaians.
Moreover, the monies collected from workers have virtually disappeared, and that Thomson guy at SSNIT is not to be trusted. He is a vampire, and his brother is the other Thomson that was a CEO at STC, and has been removed this year by its workers for pension funds and other wrongdoings. Until the "Big" Thomson at SSNIT is also removed, the extent of the damage done to workers' pensions in this country will never be known. The monies have been misused under Mr. Thomson and SSNIT is bankrupt.
The only lasting solution to this standoff is to send BNI to SSNIT to investigate and unearth the stinking rot kept in their big cupboards. What they will find will send every Ghanaian into the street calling for "blood to flow". Unfortunately, the government itself seems to have a hand in the malfeasance, and that is a potential impediment that workers would have to face.

Why will I give my pension money to Databank or Ghana Home Loans, to trade stocks with, What if their investments crash? Who will I go to?
Why do we think contractors easily spend their cash on Government projects, to be repaid later, but are adamant when it comes to private companies. STOP THE POLITICAL FOOLISHNESS, LOVE YOUR COUNTRY AND START THINKING WITH YOUR HEAD.
Government holds it a sresponsibitlity to protect its citizens from any form of foolishness.

Government will always have money. Government can always borrow money to repay u if anything goes wrong. There can always be Judgement debt in your favor. Can a private company do same? If a private company collapses like the 100s of big companies which collapses everyday around the world, who will u chase for your money?
Its funny how politics has eaten so deep into the thoughts of Ghanaians that righhful thinking, no matter how basic is difficult for them to do. Look at huge companies like Enron, General Motors, Freddie Mae, etc. all were at the verge of collapse in the US. The US Governmet had to bail-out these companies because A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY CAN ALWAYS MAKE MONEY AVAILABLE THROUGH VARIOUS MEANS.
Why will I give my pension money to Databank or Ghana Home Loans, to trade stocks with, What if their investments crash? Who will I go to?
Why do we think contractors easily spend their cash on Government projects, to be repaid later, but are adamant when it comes to private companies. STOP THE POLITICAL FOOLISHNESS, LOVE YOUR COUNTRY AND START THINKING WITH YOUR HEAD.
Government holds it a sresponsibitlity to protect its citizens from any form of foolishness.
If I were president, I will see these striking workers as little children asking for their school fees to be used for christmas dress AND SAY NO, NEVER.
