The party should act smart, think outside the box and choose someone equally or even more competent that Alan and Nana, prefereably from another region. The NPP's major problem is its inability to realise that Nana Addo is unable to appeal to voters outside the NPP. He is stabilised at the 4 million benchmark and he does not make any meaning attempt to appeal to floating voters. Obviously, 'All die-be-die' and 'Yen Akanfo' have not helped. Promising to build houses for Kayayei and to satisfy everyone was a bit dumb. The NPP need someone who can permeate the floating voters and that does not look like Nana Addo. The history of Ghanaian politics seems to point to the fact that no-one has won the presidency at the first attempt. Even Rawlings' first coup attempt failed to win him the cherished position. This presupposes that even if given the chance, Alan may not win the presidency for the NPP at his first attempt.
Going by that presupposition alone, Akuffo-Addo could be third time lucky in 2016! We should not make the mistake of doing things according to the dictates of the NDC

Sick as he was, Mills was the only person who could regain for the NDC the power they lost in 2000. They gave him the chance and he won the power back for them.
