  You would’ve done better referring to it as “ Ethnicity” or an “Ethnic” group instead of “Society”. People can join societies on their own will and can also renounce it at any time of their wish. But we can’t renounce our ethnicity. People are born into ethnicity and retains membership throughout our lifetime.

  What the Dormaahene said was inappropriate and his constant attacks on the Asantehene are not commendable but I don’t think these are things that should be nurtured into Tribal War. I know that the Asante and the Dormaa are Akans who don’t like each other very much but if we know the effects of Tribal and Civil Wars, we shall hasten very slowly into any such experiments. We should not play any roles that would encourage these two Akan groups to even nurse the idea of any distant war between them.
  The Dormaahene should realize that he is a very matured and well educated man and as a traditionalist, there are certain utterances that he should not make in public for us to maintain the fragile peace that they have between them. Perhaps the National House of Chiefs and the Christian Council should come in. If possible, the President of the Country should come in too. If the situation between these two Akan groups should explode into war, it will be disastrous. These two Traditional Leaders and their people should just know how to behave and let us enjoy our little peace that we have.

  Agyena! It’s not true. If anyone told you that Asante and Dormaa don’t like each other, don’t believe them. It’s not true. We that are born into the two ethnic groups don’t see any animosity in our families. Just that this Agya man Badu 1 and his predecessor AGYEMAN BADU 1 who was pushed by the NKRUMAH’S CPP to revolt against the Ashanti domination are the bedrocks of the problem. His wife is an Ashanti and so his children are Ashanti’s just like myself. My Father is a Bono and raise me as a Bono. But our culture is matrilineal inheritance which makes me an Ashanti. So for him to cause friction between myself and his children whose mothers are Ashanti makes him a very irrational person.

  A timely call indeed and I was expecting such institutions to intervene promptly. This provocation started years back when Essumaja stool became vacant and Dormaahene came out to say that he's the right person to enstool a chief there bcos Essumaja stool belongs to aduana clan and he occupies aduanapanin stool. Since then Dormaahene has not looked back but consistently attack and ridicule Manhyia and what surprises me is that, his predecessor, Nana Agyeman Badu of blessed memories had cordial relationships with Manhyia. By his actions, it has created bad blood amongst the two groups of people which hitherto wasn't the case. We all saw or heard what happened at Sunyani on the day asantehene was scheduled to arrive at the funeral grounds of late Sunyanimanhene's final funeral rites. No one is talking about it until tempers flare up as it's happening in Bawku. Where are the security experts, conflict resolution experts and all those who love peace? Can't they see danger ahead and all the red flags flying? Do we have to wait till it escalates before we come and speak good english on radio and TV stations? Thank you doc for your call as I'm worried about the attacks from Dormaa Ahenkro.

This is insanity, and clear insult to the Republic of Ghana. Asantes have insulted every group and even claimed that the only humans in Ghana live in the Ashanti Bush.   The animosity between the Asantehene and the Dormahene has been brewing for years and if there is no intervention , this could lead to a tribal conflict between the Asantes and the Dormaas. The national house of chiefs , the peace council, the council of elders and the jubilee house must act now to forestall peace before it is too late . Ghana are aware of the tribal conflict in the north which has claimed many lives and yet still the government has no control over the situation. If cooler heads do not prevail and the Asantehene and the Dormahene fracas escalated into a tribal conflict the government cannot control it and peace will elude us all. Where are our prophets and their prophecies?
