A lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Dr Collins Kankam Kwarteng, has urged the National Peace Council, the National House of Chiefs, and leading political figures to intervene and call the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Ogyeman Badu, to order over his recent insults against the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman.
Dr Kwarteng warned that the Dormaahene’s persistent attacks on the Asantehene could potentially trigger reprisal actions, which may escalate into a major tribal conflict in Ghana.
His call follows the Dormaahene’s recent comments questioning the historical narrative of the Asantes regarding the origin of the Golden Stool, a statement that has sparked widespread outrage.
Although the Manhyia Palace is yet to respond to the remarks, Dr Kwarteng emphasized that Ghana’s peace remains fragile and cannot be endangered by unprovoked attacks from one chief against another.
Speaking on OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo on Monday, Dr Kwarteng stressed the urgent need for the National House of Chiefs and the National Peace Council to step in to prevent chaos, noting that many Asantes are seething with anger over the Dormaahene’s comments.
