Five die in ghastly accident at Yamoransa

A tragic accident at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast-Accra highway claimed five lives and left twelve (12) others injured on Monday, September 15, 2025, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

A press release from the Central Regional Public Relations Office of the GNFS detailed that the collision occurred at approximately 2:45 P.M. between a DAF Truck with registration number AW 9548-13, loaded with 700 bags of rice, and a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle with registration number GC 9728-21.

A GNFS Rescue Team from the Central Regional Headquarters arrived at the scene by 2:59 P.M. to commence rescue operations.

Upon arrival, they removed five victims from the wreckage.

Tragically, four were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, with one other critically injured victim receiving treatment.

Additionally, twelve (12) passengers had been rescued and rushed to the hospital prior to the GNFS team's arrival, with one later confirmed dead, bringing the total fatalities to five.

The GNFS reported that the driver and mate of the DAF Truck escaped unharmed.

The crash, which resulted in five persons dead and twelve (12) others injured – led to significant traffic disruptions on the busy highway as emergency services worked to save lives and clear the scene.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, and investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
