The Functional Executive Committee(FEC) of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has warned members of the party seeking to run for office in the upcoming primaries next year to cease campaigning.

The directive comes at a time when all ten Regional Chairmen of the NDC have decided en-bloc to back the candidature of the former President, John Dramani Mahama to lead the party into the 2020 general elections.

But according to the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC, the party’s internal electoral processes that allow members to engage in the campaign and other political activities have not yet been officially launched, cautioning members to desist from further campaigns until the green light is given.

In a statement issued by the Committee and signed by the National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy said”The party is actively working on various programs and guidelines to ensure an equitable playing ground to enable credible electoral process towards successful primaries being held at all levels of our party.”

The statement further encouraged members to rather participate in the on-going registration exercise to enable the party re-establish a solid foundation to wrestle power from the governing NPP in the 2020 elections.
