An aspiring National Chairman in the upcoming internal national executive race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has promised to decentralise its research mechanism if elected.

The aspirant says the party’s research mechanism is currently cantered only in Accra and is led by one researcher and deputy.

The regional and constituency offices across the country he disclosed do not have researchers but has promised to provide each constituency and region with a research mechanism.

"One of the new things I have in mind is to decentralise our research so we can conduct basic research at the constituency and regional levels so it will help us to gather information how to win at the constituency and regional levels.’’

Politics he noted has assumed a scientific approach hence the need for political parties to adopt new measures to meet the new trends in our politics.

One other area he intends looking at is political party funding and has promised to introduce what he describes as "developmental political party system’’, a system that allows political parties to own shares in companies.

Using South Africa as an example, he said, the ANC as a political party, have shares in MTN.

He will therefore raise entrepreneurs, in ventures like insurance company where party supporters would be asked to subscribe to and help the party raise resources for party activities. He told Kwabena Agyapong, sit-in host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 875.FM that, campaign has been so far good.

He disclosed he has conducted campaign in six regions including the Eastern region, Ashanti region (16 constituencies) among others.

He confidently stated that, delegates are willing to make him the national chairman of the umbrella family.

When asked if he was apt for the job, he said, when you are passionate about something, you dedicate your all to ensure the activities of the party are done.

I have served the party for many years. I joined the party when I was 28 years and I served in different capacities and so I can confidently say, I have served and now apt for the job as national chairman.

Members of the NDC he stated are looking for victory 2020 and from the assessment done by delegates, he is the only candidate with the requite skills, loyalty, commitment and vitality to make them win the 2020 polls.

"The delegates have accepted my messages. We need new strategies to increase our number. I cannot share my strategies but the delegates have accepted my vision.’’

Mr Ofosu Ampofo said, the race is ‘’not a do or die affair but an internal race’’ but ‘’I am optimistic the delegates will vote for me’’.
