The senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana–Legon, Dr. Asah Asante, says that Dormaahene, Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II's comments describing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as respectful and decent do not constitute an endorsement.

The Dormaahene, Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, who is the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, expressed his admiration for the Vice President during his campaign tour in the Bono Region.

"Dr. Bawumia, you're respectful, intelligent, and more striking is the fact that your utterances are devoid of insults and are decent," he remarked.

He further pleaded with the Vice President to expedite uncompleted projects in the region and fulfill the promises made to them that were included in this year's budget.

Dr. Bawumia also thanked the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, sought their support for the upcoming December polls, and assured them of his commitment to the development of the country.

However, commenting on the development on Morning Starr with Francis Abban on Thursday, Dr. Asante stated that the pronouncements by the Chief cannot be interpreted as an endorsement.

"You are saying that the person is decent, his language is decorous, and all that. He has not supported anybody. I am not a lawyer, but my little understanding is that the ruling of the Supreme Court is that you don’t endorse a political actor. You can endorse his policy and the rest of them.

"He is saying that your language is decent. This statement can be made by anybody; that your language is decent. We attack the President, Vice President, and other political actors sometimes because their language is not decent; it's too harsh and intemperate.

"When we do that, can you say we have endorsed them, or we have attacked them? We are talking about an act that ought to be within the political space. Yes, you are decent, but that will not amount to anything; I have not endorsed you," the political science lecturer stated.
