I look back to when we were in school and the way certain people in our society were treated and continue to be treated and my eyes fill up with tears.
Some children in class were beaten up mercilessly by teachers because they could'nt read or do their Maths no matter what effort they put in or how the teacher explained it.
A little bit of education or awareness would have prevented these atrocities meted out to some children. It would have, at least crossed the minds of these teachers that the child may be Autistic, dyslexic etc.
We still see parents sending their children to all sorts of shrines and churches with no avail when a simple early intervention with the right educational tools and learning aids as well as diet who have made a very huge difference.
The government needs to educate the people on autism and provide specialist help for these parents to reduce the trauma for both parents and children.

Thanks to Dzifa for also accepting to be a life patron of the society - may the Lord grant us all the Grace to be humble and not judge those we do not understand especially if they have not done anything to us
