How can training of nurses be under MoE? What about the training of doctors?.Politics is inevitable in society but politician must be careful not to interfere areas such as Health,Education,National security and the military without extensive stake holders consultation in terms of finding solutions to problems politicians think need policy change.Back to the nurses' issue, there are requirements for one to be trained a professional nurse (2)there is an accreditation authority that knows the expertise of a nursing training institution(standard) and all that it takes to train nurses up to the task locally and internationally. (3)there is a competent and internationally recognised regulatory body for nurses.(4) what will MoE do differently so that unaccredited nurses training institutions don't train nurses in Ghana?.The simple thing is that this move if true won't work,it will only compound things negatively. Nursing is not for school drop outs, hence the existing bodies like Nurses'and midvives council,National accreditation Board, minimum academic qualification for training of nurses which are very clear why then this needless move? Yes we have most of our young people who want to called nurses if he/she decide to lawless an go to any of the unauthorised institution to graduate he/she is not expected to practice as a nurse.Even if such nurses are hiding to practise nursing in private health institutions in Ghana, there are mechanism to apprehend them and their employers so this is not a big deal.
