They say a stitch in time saves lives. However this stitch is not timely. Where was WHO? Where are the G8 leaders? When the outbreak was first reported I expected WHO and the west to have acted promptly but just because it is Africa, they didn't care. They know very well Africa hasn't the equipment, drugs and expertise to handle a very very virulent and deadly disease like Ebola and yet never hastened to our aid. Now that they are at risk they are taking measures out of panic. The message we all wanted to hear was WHO has started emergency response and not that they want to announce a response. It is a little too late. All these lives could have been spared had the WHO and the west acted swiftly. This just tells you that poverty is not good.
