this is a topic , people are not interested. however they forget that we are all drifting to old age. I salute Ghanians for their natural support to the elderly, they are taken care by their children grandchildren and close relatives in the family home, that is about 70% of care needed. the government is a toothless bull when it comes to mental health issues. the writer talks of social welfare systems, these are none existing in practice. Medical professionals should talk reality and practical not theories . The psyvchiatric hospital itself abuse patients, there was a time when a patient was chained, and the chief psychiatrist gave reason of no staff, it then out of place when they openly talk of abuse.
lets be real, it is the most difficult field, but with adequate information and education to the good people of ghana,mental disorder persons will be taken care of, as done already. just that some practices need improving not condemming.
